Effect of Shift Report Training Program for Nurses on Quality of Reporting

Background: Shift report has crucial on achieving effective, safe, and high quality communication when theresponsibility for the patient care is transferred from one nurse to another in suitable manner.Aim of Study: The study aimed develop reporting among nurses after implementation shiftreport training program.Subjects Method: was conducted at Shoubra General Hospital which affiliated ministry ofhealth hospitals Total bed capacity (200) bed. Two groups subjects participated study, namelyhead nurses, staff nurses; 50 head their assistants designated setting, only selectioncriterion this group working selected units during time study; 129 nursesout 194 according equation. Three data collection tools were used carry out namely,knowledge questionnaire sheet, Observational check list, Audit sheet. involved assessment,planning, implementation, evaluation phases end three months follow-up.Results: No sample had satisfactory total knowledge scores preintervention phase reach 100% post-intervention follow up phases. nursesin performance pre-intervention 100%at post- intervention phase, while follow-up showed some declines, down 70% totalperformance scores.Conclusion Recommendations: There a statistically significant correlation between nurses’total knowledge, performance, audit with p-value > 0.01, also, there significantcorrelation nurses’ 0.01. studyrecommends Periodic assessment skills. Regular implementationof programs regarding shift report.
